ASTD ICE 2013Implementing Intelligent Learning Design: Redefining Blended LearningPresenters: Sam Herring & Sarah Thompson |
Details: As learning professionals, what are we to make of the explosion of Web 2.0 technologies and their promise to transform how we learn? How do we integrate the promise of technologies such as collaboration tools, social networks, and more into effective learning solutions that achieve tangible results? New technologies and business trends are fundamentally impacting the way we communicate, learn, and share information at work, home, and in our communities. Learning professionals must understand how to leverage new technologies in the context of broader business and social trends to make an impact in their organizations.
This session showcases research examples and trends of critical new technologies, and their applications for learning. The presenters introduce a framework that expands the common vision of learning beyond traditional categories of formal learning to include new “agile” and social learning models, providing examples of agile and social learning in practice. Throughout, attendees synthesize information and examples to learn how to successfully blend formal, agile and social learning into effective solutions. Presenters introduce a modality assessment tool set, leveraging examples and exercises to help determine when and how to use different modalities and methods. Demonstrations and a hands-on group exercise will facilitate learning and collaboration.
